About Alex Fisher

I was trained at the Swedish Institute of Massage Therapy in New York City, graduating in 1993. While there I studied Swedish massage and shiatsu. Since that time I have studied the Rosen Method, aromatherapy and pregnancy massage. While not a Rosen practitioner, I always bring the concept of listening hands to my work.

I like to say that while I'm a professional, you are the expert. You know exactly what is going on, what is needed, and what feels right. It's up to me to tailor each session to your needs. My most important tool is my ability to listen, and then to create a safe and caring space for relaxation and healing.

I have been giving massages almost as long as I can remember. My mother was a dancer and would pay me a penny to massage her feet and a penny for her back. It was many years later that I realized this lifelong avocation could be my livelihood. It was an aha! moment.

I have clients who come to me for relaxation and stress relief; to aid in recovery from injury; to deepen their awareness of themselves; or to connect to feelings and memories held in the body. I sometimes feel like a midwife for the psyche; so that through bodywork greater awareness can come to life. It is an honor to be a part of this process.

I have many years of supervised experience working with clients in recovery from trauma and healing from PTSD and other wounds to the spirit. I have also worked with a number of gender nonbinary clients over the years, providing a safe and nonjudgmental setting for each to become more present in their body.

I look forward to hearing from you and working with you!
